CAFÉ DESIGN

This was done as a first design studio project to learn about the basic elements of design such as point, line, planes, volumes, masses, color, texture etc. A cafe was designed for 50 people and the task was to play with roof forms. I took geometrical forms and designed one storey eye catching cafe with pleasant interior.

RESIDENCE DESIGN
This is a second year design studio project. Single family residence was designed as a first task. The site was at Dhapakhel in an area of 350 square meters. Living, dining and kitchen are placed on ground floor within a close proximity. Master bed room, child room and guest room are placed in first floor where guest room is given a separate entrance with a closed balcony. Puja room is placed at top in North East as per Vaastu. Balcony at North acts as a family space.

The second task was to design a joint family residence. The site is located in Swoyambhu, Kathamndu. Taking Swoyambhu as a point of departure, the residence is oriented North with a closed curved balcony which gives a clear picture of Swoyambhu. The site is 450 square meters in area with a level difference of 6m from road where the whole building is design in split level.
in two parts which is separated by staircase at landing level.

APARTMENT DESIGN

This project was done in Third year as Design Studio-V.

Apartment design was a third year Design Studio Project. The site is located at Dhapakhel, Kathmandu in an area of 20 ropany. The site is contoured with a level difference of 7 m become an opportunity to provide parking at two different level. Community services like community hall, health center, gym and restaurant are provided on ground floor. . Two circular building are connected through common long passage with frosted glass flooring. The architecture expresses the dynamism in form.

HOUSING PROJECT
This is a group project done in Fourth year in Design Studio. The site is located at Mulpani in an area of 56000 square meter. The site has a level difference of 30 m. Site carries religious influence from neighboring pilgrimages for which the planning is approached to give similar characteristics to the site itself that harmonizes & becomes the part of the holy site itself. Temple is placed at the highest point which is the focal point & guides the whole layout & housing units are arranged radially around the temple at different levels forming a traditional concept of temple centric town planning.
An axis joins the temple & the site entrance that acts as the service lane and sub roads originates to form a road network at successive levels. The nodes at three point forms three major characteristics space of traditional town i.e. social, religious & cultural spaces that interconnect with the settlements & binds the entire site.

CONSERVATION
This project is also a group project executed in fifth year as conservation studio and Sankhu city was assigned as conservation site.

Sankhu is an old settlement located at fringe of Kathmandu based on Vedic principles and cosmic laws which is rich in jatras, culture, festivals, religious heritage, monuments and traditional craftsmanship, but most of the historical monuments are in the threat of jeopardize and degradation.

The main objective of this project is to study the existing condition of settlement in terms of settlement pattern, infrastructure and facilities, architectural characters and to understand and analyze the possible modes of interventions for conservation of the traditional settlement.

The existing condition was studied in depth and problems were identified and necessary degrees of interventions were proposed to retain the historic and cultural beauty of Sankhu. The conservation of the study area is carried out on 3C concept of conservation.

This design focuses on the improvement of the city urban environment and explores the contribution, a performing arts center will make towards the quality of the seam between the inner city urban edge and the surrounding sub-urban areas. The building aims to evoke an interest in the performing arts by providing academic and performing spaces to learn dance, create music or become involved in local theater productions. This project is an attempt to make a center for the preservation of the down falling art and culture by creating a platform for the performing and exhibiting arts.

The site is located at Balkhu, Kaathmandu in an area of 17500 square meter.  The land is sloped toward NE with the level difference of 6 m. The concept involves the planning approach of various spaces about a visual axis which starts from the main entry and ends with the open air theater. Taking the advantage of topography of the site, the OAT and the auditorium is placed on the natural setting of the site and the placement of other spaces was done about the visual axis according to their functions and privacy.
